Imagine the Possibilities

Sing at the Met?  Sing in a professional chorus?  Sing on Broadway?  Your goals will be achieved with ongoing instruction and good solid technique.

Are You Ready?

Students who begin private vocal study should be prepared to practice vocal exercises and repertoire every day. Singing is a physical and mental skill. The mind and the body must be trained through the repetition of practice if the singer is to improve.

In addition to the investment of time, singers should be prepared to purchase the following:

  • A recording device to record every      lesson, and to record audio practice materials to assist them when they      are at home.
  • A dedicated binder which will hold their vocal music and materials. Students should have a pencil in their binder at all times to make markings in their music during their lesson.
  • Sheet music and music books required by the teacher, selected for the particular goals of each student.
  • A water bottle.

In addition, students will have the option of participating in recitals once a season. The recitals are not required, but it is important for students to have authentic performance experiences if they are to grow as performers, therefore the recitals are highly encouraged. There will be a nominal recital fee for those who choose to participate in order to cover the cost of the recital space and the cost of the accompanist. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in group "master class" sessions with other students in the studio. The master classes will take place prior to an upcoming studio recital, can be as long as 90 minutes, and take the place of a lesson on that particular week at no extra cost. Through the master classes, students are able to sing for each other and receive performance coaching in a supportive, non-threatening group setting.

Enhance your vocal technique in a progressive and nurturing environment today.  Work on your breath support, expand your range, strengthen your tone, free the body and mind.  "I love what I do and I'm here to help you meet or surpass your goals!" -Angela Burns
